Very good condition
This katana is a large 88.6 cm sword, relatively heavy and very balanced
the Kasane (blade thickness, 8 mm) is strongly pronounced, it is a weapon intended for combat
Blade:
Magnificent polishing, very good condition, some normal wear marks from use.
Please refer to the detailed photos, including an unpolished mark on the Boshi (the temple line at the tip)
Ha (edge of the blade) in very good condition (very sharp)
Kissaki (tip of the blade) in very good condition, well marked
Yokote: (perpendicular part which marks the beginning of the kissaki) very marked
Nakago: unpolished, slightly rusty part of the blade bearing the signature, very good condition
Mei: (signature): Kunishige
Hamon: well marked and visible tempering line
Shinogi: longitudinal edge along the blade very marked
Ji (between the crest and the ha): very good condition
Sori: (curvature of the blade, 3.5 cm): very pronounced, this is a long Katana called “Sori Fukai”
Iron tsuba, delicately decorated with floral patterns
Tsuka: 18-19th century
Tsuka-ito: grip braiding in good condition, beautiful patina
Same (shagreen: ray skin) which surrounds the
Tsuka, good condition
Seppa (metal washer surrounding the tsuba) in very good condition
Fuchi and Koshira with floral decorations 18th-early 19th century
Menuki: plant ornament placed under the braiding to ensure a good grip, in very good condition
Saya (scabbard): 19th or early 20th century
Decorative cord present (Sageo)
Very good condition
